FBST receives funding for Community Notice Board
FBST receives funding for Community Notice Board
Friends of Brunswick Square & Terrace (FBST) has received a grant of £3,000 from the Police & Crime Commissioner’s Community Safety Fund. This covers the production and installation costs of the new Community Notice Board in the Brunswick Square Garden.
Treasurer Lara Brooks, who accepted the grant award on behalf of FBST, explains how the funding will help improve safety in Brunswick Square:
“We are delighted to have been awarded this grant from the Commissioner’s Community Safety Fund to cover the cost of our new Community Notice Board. This will enable us to post information about how to report crime and anti-social behaviour as well as other important communications.”
Commending FBST on its successful bid, Mrs Bourne said: “As PCC I have a statutory responsibility for commissioning county-wide community safety and crime prevention programmes.
“The Keep Brunswick Safe campaign is a great example of an innovative local project that aims to make our communities safer.
“Since launching the Safer in Sussex Fund in December 2013, nearly £1.5 million has been allocated to support over 300 crime reduction and community safety initiatives.
“This money makes a real difference to local people and neighbourhoods. The high numbers of bids each time shows organisations and community groups are committed to keeping Sussex a safe place in which to live.”

Fundraising Update & Annual Report
2023 & 2024 have been incredibly successful years for FBST’s fundraising efforts. Thanks mainly to the hard work of our former secretary (now Treasurer!), Lara Brooks, the finances of our residents association have been transformed. Thanks to the generosity of the Co-op Community Fund, the Garden Trust, the Pebble Trust, the Safer in Sussex Community Fund and the Neighbourhood Watch Community Grants Fund, a total of over £14000 has been raised. Much of the money raised has been to help us continue the transformation of our gardens, but we have also raised monies for other projects. We have funding for a community noticeboard, which we hope to have installed in the coming months and are now looking towards funding for other pressing issues such as the railings. Further details on this and other matters can be found in the Chair’s annual report (link below) presented at our recent AGM.
